Para maunawaan ng mga kapatid namin sa media, ito po ang ilan sa mga dahilan kung bakit KAILANGANG MAY BOSES SA KONGRESO ang MGA NAGMAMAHAL SA PAMAMAHAYAG.

UNA, hindi lahat ng kasapi namin sa ALAB NG MAMAMAHAYAG (ALAM) ay mga journalist.

Sa totoo lang, wala pang 5 porsiento ang journalists. Ang iba pa naming miyembro ay mga magsasaka, mga urban poor, mga ultimong trabahante o mga manggagawa, mga tribong B’Laan, Manobo at Higaunon, mga teacher, mga manininda, at iba pang sektor.

Kung bakit kami nagsasama, iyon ay dahil sa pinagtali kami ng aming taimtim na paniniwala:(1) na tanging TOTALLY-FREE PRESS lamang ang pamamaraan para maisigurado ang mas magandang takbo ng pamahalaan; at (2) JURY SYSTEM o Hukuman ng Mamamahayan na siya lamang sistema ng hukuman na makapagbigay ng totoongg katarungan para sa lahat, mayaman man o mahirap.

PANGALAWA, wala ni isa sa mga mambabatas natin, Kongresman o Senador, na sumusulong ng dalawang paniwalang iyon.

Kung di nila ginagawa, sino ngayon ang gagawa?

PANGATLO, ang karapatang PRESS FREEDOM, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION at FREEDOM OF SPEECH ay iginawad ng Konstitusyon sa lahat ng Pilipino, kaya hindi lamang mga reporter, brodkaster o editor ang may karapatang PRESS FREEDOM, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION at FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

Ngayon, ang mga kasapi naming mga sektor ay nagsusumidhi ang mga damdamin dahil sa lang dekada na hindi sila napapakainggan, hindi binibigyan ng pansin, hindi nagkakaroon ng pag-asa.

Sa pag-iipon ng aming lakas, ninanais nila na magkaroon ng mas aktibong partispasyon sa pagsasagawa ng batas, pagkokontra sa mga batas na sa tingin nila ay dagdag api sa mga aba, at pagpapaimbuyog ng kanilang mga damdamin na naway ang aming minimithi na DECRIMINALIZED LIBEL SOCIETY at JURY SYSTEM ay maisasabatas.

Ang dalawang paniniwala na ito ay aming alay sa mga Pilipino bago pa lamang kami papanaw sa mundong ibabaw.

Kailangang lumabas sa aming mga lungga at maghimagsik alang-alang sa pagbabagong tunay o dalisay.

Sana, maunawaan nyo na po, KUNG BAKIT DAPAT MABIGYAN NG ACCREDITATION ANG ALAB NG MAMAMAHAYAG.

DE LIMA SUPPRESSING FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, SAYS ALAM

For evicting two press corps from DoJ building

KINONDENA ng Alab ng Mamamahayag (ALAM) ang desisyon ni Department of Justice (DOJ) Sec. Leila de Lima na palayasin ang dalawang press corps na nakabase sa kanila.

Idinahilan ni De Lima na batay sa report ng National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), nagiging banta sa seguridad ang ilang miyembro ng media.

Ayon kay ALAM Chairman Jerry Yap, matatawag na first degree harassment ito sa mga mamamayahag, at tahasang pagkitil sa press freedom.

Ani Yap, kahit pa totoong maituturing na courtesy lamang ng mga departamento ng gobyerno ang paglalagay ng press office, hindi nangyari sa kahit kaninong president na pinalayas ang mga reporter sa kanilang lugar.

Kahit umano noong panahon ng panunungkulan ng itinuturing na diktador na si former President Ferdinand Marcos, at sa itinuturing na kontrabida sa media na si dating pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ay walang press corps na napapalayas.

Ngunit sa panahon ng panunungkulan ni Pres. Benigno Simeon Aquino III, apat na press corps agad ang napatalsik.

Unang pinalayas ni Land Transportation Office Chief Virgie Torres ang LTO Press Corps, kasabay naman ng pagpapalayas din ni Land Transportation and Franchising and Regulatory Board Chairman James Jacob sa LTFRB Press Corps na kasisimula pa lamang.

Sina Torres at Jacob ay mga shooting buddies ni PNoy.

Ani Yap, pinalampas ng National Press Club (NPC) ang nasabing dalawang insidente dahil nagkaroon ng kaunting problema sa pagitan ng media at pamunuan ng dalawang opisina.

Aniya, marahil ay may itinatago si De Lima kaya pinalayas ang JUCRA (Justice and Court Reporters Association) at JUROR (Justice Reporters Organization) sa DOJ main building kung saan din siya nag-o-opisina.

Binigyang diin ni Yap na doon naglalagi ang dalawang grupo ng media dahil madali silang nakakakuha ng balita sa lugar na ito.

Naroroon na ang JUCRA mula pa 1977 samantalang ang JUROR ay nagsimula noong 1986, sa panahon ng panunungkulan ni dating Pres. Corazon Aquino.

“Kung sabagay, kahit noong siya pa ang Comission on Human Rights (CHR), nagkagulo-gulo rin,” ani Yap. “Kahit saan talaga mapunta si De Lima, nagkakaroon ng dilemma.”

Dagdag ni Yap, sa halip na proteksyunan ang media, pangmamaltrato pa ang nararanasan ng media sa DOJ.

Gayunman, mapapalampas na rin aniya ang pagmaltratong ito kung nareresolba ng Task Force 211 ng DOJ ang mga media killings, partikular ang Maguindanao Massacre.

NPC condemns DOJ eviction of 2 press corps

THE National Press Club condemned the decision of Department of Justice (DOJ) Sec. Leila de Lima to evict from the department’s premises in Manila its two recognized press corps based on an alleged report by the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) that members of the press have become a “security threat” to its officials.

“We find the DOJ’s action suspicious; this a ‘cloaked censorship’ aimed at restraining the media from gathering information especially from officials and personalities who are connected with the office of the DOJ secretary (OSEC),” declared NPC president Benny Antiporda.

He noted that the two press corps at the DOJ main building, JUCRA (Justice and Court Reporters Association) and JUROR (Justice Reporters Organization) has been staying on the same floor where the office of De Lima is located so they can immediately gather news on important issues that need the immediate reaction of the justice secretary.

The JUCRA has been holding office at the DOJ since 1977 while the JUROR has also been given accommodation by the department since the 1980s, during the time of Pres. Corazon Aquino.

“Now the DOJ officials want the media out of the building allegedly because of a NICA report that they have become a ‘security threat.’ We (members of the press) are not born yesterday,” Antiporda said.

Antiporda said it is not wild to speculate that de Lima’s order to ban members of the press from the building housing her office and to remove them from as far away as they can be from other top DOJ officials is to cover-up for the ‘sin of commission’ by some justice officials with their habit of releasing reports of DOJ investigation of sensitive issues.

“Instead of focusing on how to suppress press freedom it would be better for Sec. De Lima to give more protection to the media by solving the many incidents of media killing that should have been the primary task of the DOJ’s Task Force 211,” he added.

Citing a purported report from the NICA claiming the presence of members of the press inside the DOJ main building poses a threat to DOJ security, its officials headed by three undersecretaries—Jose Vicente Salazar, Francisco Baraan III and Leah Armamento—gathered on Thursday members of the JUCRA and JUROR to inform them of their eviction ordered by Sec. Leila de Lima.

When pressed for a copy of the report, the officials however declined to provide any.
